Anyone Still Out There?

So, I pretty much fell off the face of the earth, lol....

Sorry kiddo's!!! Last 6 months, actually it has really been more than 6 months- but regardless, the time truly has been a transition period. Although I am not the most religious person- you know the sane- "God only brings you what you can handle?" Well Jesus- your daddy has def been testing me to see what I can handle. Lol.

And when I say, what I can handle- I don't mean it in a bad way what so ever- because really, Sooooooo many wonderful things have happened in my life. I am working full time in the corporate world again, in position I truly do love and am enjoying, My sister is pregnant with (my immediate  family) first grandchild- which is HUGE!! and I have been on a journey with myself- discovering things about myself I never knew I needed, wanted and felt. THAT has been very eye opening. So with all that plus dealing with the end of my romantic relationship (because yes- I did fall in love deeply and it has been a process moving forward)- My life has been busy not allowing me to pay little ol chicacherrie any attention or norture it like I used to.

A part of me really does miss it, the posts, the outfits and all your wonderful comments and feed back but another part of me really hasn't been motivated to get back into it. I have been blogging for over 6 years- mostly for myself and maybe I just needed the time away- to get myself together and figure out if I really want to continue on this journey with you.

Well, I haven't figured it out just yet but as soon as I get some def answer, I will be sure to keep you guys in the loop. Until then, Enjoy your weekend and to kep up with my adventures- catch me over on instagram: @ChicaCherrie

Look of the Week

Soft, romantic, classic yet sexy. The perfect combination needed for the red carpet and Zoe Saldana pulls it off flawlessly. Wearing this beautiful Ivory Alexander McQueen with minimal make up and natural curls- she simply looks stunning.

Grammy Fashion 2013

Let's get to it everyone- is anybody else as disappointed as I was with last nights Grammy fashion?? I mean, I usually have about 20 good and bad dresses to pick from but this year there really was no stand out pieces that should have been placed on the good or bad list. It's sad to think that the CBS censor rating may have actually scared off many people from taking some good ol' fashioned risks but it looks like it actually worked. With that said, here is a recap of some of the low and high lights of the evening.

surprise, surprise
Ummm hello Kelley Rowland- where did you come from in this dress??? Bravo little lady- one of the only singers to actually take a risk.. or shall I say be risque' in this geometric cut out gown from Georges Chakra Couture. The fit was absolutely amazing, the cut outs were in all the proper places and hair and make up were on point. This was very well played and dare I say she def one upped Beyonce on the red carpet (we will get to THAT later...)

Doin' it right
There is always a few ladies at these red carpet events who know how to do it just right, fashionable but not fantastic, Appropriate but not edgy. These ladies did just that. Their looks were well put together, within their personal style but not in anyway over the top or seeking the attention of all- a la Lady Gaga.

Estelle- who I haven't seen much of lately wore this two piece patterned Genelle Brooks x Love Collins that I know many people did not necessarily love but I thought was pretty damn fabulous. She managed to show a little midriff, wear something form fitting that showed off her fabulous body and yet still remain true to her quirky style with a patterned piece that had a wonderful display of orange colors. I say it's a win.
Classic with a twist
Although this red Alaia dress Rihanna was rocking last night was as classic as you can go-gorgeous but I wouldn't say Grammy worthy- there were two other stars which I thought brought in some fabulous traditional cuts and added their own twists to it.

Katy Perry and Solange Knowles
Rocking two different shades of green, these ladies took a classic cut dress and added some personal style to it via accessories, unexpected styling and fabulous hair- oh the Hair!!

Solange wore her ever fabulous fro last night with soft natural make up that was the perfect touch to her emerald green beaded cap sleeve thigh high slit dress by Ralph and Russo which showed off her fluorescent spiked Christian Loubuton Heels. Katy Perry took a classic approach to fashion last night with a soft mint fully sleeved Gucci gown that was not only cleavage baring but skin tight with an obvious Priscilla Presley inspiration. With big hair, an embellished neckline and soft yet very pronounced eye make up- Katy pulled off this look and made me hopeful that she is past the blue hair stage of her career.

Who wears the pants?
Apparently Beyonce and Janelle Monae do. Although I do believe a good pant suit or outfit is a classy touch, I have to say neither of these looks really did it for me. First off, This is a lazy day at the Beyonce office of fabulous fashion. This looks like an outfit she would wear to a meeting or photo call not a red carpet Grammy outfit. And Janelle- I get it, tuxedo's are your thing but come on girl, would it kill you to put on a dress? With that figure and that hair, she could have easily pulled off a classic pin up style dress that probably would have included a bow tie or top hat. There just have to be more effort put towards the fashion choices put out by these two ladies.

What the damn Hell?!?
Now these three, oh please. Someone drop a prayer for their stylist.

Jennifer Lopez
Can someone please remind this women that she is no longer in the stage of her career where she needs to fight for attention?? I mean, we get it- you look fabulous for being in your 40's but this dress was a sad call for attention and honestly it didn't even look good. A one sleeved thigh high cut dress that was pretty much just fabric draped on her body did nothing for her figure. Her make up was not great, the knot top was not appealing and her accessorize reminded me of Cleopatra. All together I am going to have to say this was a major miss and I can only hope she makes up for it in a major way during the Oscars.

Adele
Although I have to applaud her for getting out of her typical all black, this dress and matching shoes are a mess. Looking like a Mexican Russian tablecloth is not a good look for anyone. The look was missing a fabulous black belt to break up the print and the shoes were def overkill. Adele, please fire who ever convinced you this was the look to go with.

Kimbra
Ok, I get it you are quirky, from down under and don't just want to be a one hit wonder- or somebody that we used to know but this is not a way to leave an impression on us. This dress, you can tell actually had some potential, until someone threw up sea foam netting all over it. If they would have moved all that netting to the tail portion of the gown- she may have been on some best dressed lists but instead she came out like a ballerina that got into a back alley scrap with pieces of her very expensive gold embellished tutu torn all over the place. Sigh...

hello, hello, hello

Hello, hello everyone!!

So sorry to have been gone for so long. The past couple of months have truly been beyond busy with new work, bridesmaid diet mode and much needed time for myself. Within all this time I have really found things I like, things I wanna do and things I want to leave behind. With that said, I am happy that I am starting to get the urge to blog once again and am looking forward to posting outfits, fashion commentary and overall adventures of life. Although it may be slowly- I am looking forward to blogging once again.

Gone Fishing... 2 Months later

So, if you haven't noticed I've been a bit MIA. What's the cause, you ask? A new kick ass job that I love and have been having a hard time balancing out regular life with. Not only have I been neglecting you my loving followers but sadly I have been neglecting my friends, family and even worse: myself. With 2013 arriving so quickly-I know it's time to get a legit schedule down and secure some blogging and outfit time for you guys. So, I know I probably won't be able to do much in the coming weeks but my goal is to get back in full swing by February. Sorrrry kiddies. Can you ever forgive me?

xoxo
