As I begin to write, I start to think- when is the last time I was actually online to check up on the blog? Enjoying writing and catching you up on the activities of my life? When is the last time I did an outfit post? A red carpet recap? A trend alert? Then it hits me- so much time has gone by, that I can't even remember. And really it's shocking because at one point chica cherrie was such an important part of my life, I loved writing and sharing yet in a matter of just a year- so much has changed.
Some personal lows added with some personal and professional highs really made 2013 a roller coaster ride. When I think of last year, in many ways it feels like a blur- a blur of time that took me away from the core person I was, yet opened up ideas and qualities of life that would make me consider the type of person I want to be. It had been an internal tug of war and by October, I was tired of being in the middle, becoming a thinning rope which was bound to break straight down the center. I eventually became completely uncomfortable in my own skin and came to the conclusion that I needed to make goals to improve myself and in December- with a new year approaching I did just that. I planned on being completely happy, setting goals for myself, be healthy/active and opening myself up with love around me.
So, that's what I have been up to so far this year and let me just say, life is good. More to come and hopefully many more adventures to share. Until next time...

Check it out...
Katy Perry in Valentino Haute Couture
Beyonce in Michael Costello
Beyonce can do no wrong for me BUT even though I love this Mesh/Lace Michael Costello gown, I do think it is a bit too formal for the Grammys. I mean, I saw the telecast and she was unable to stand/dance and groove it up all night because of the stiffness of the gown. Gorgeous dress, wonderful detail, great way to casual it down with the hair but def wrong event.
So, Hello Lupita Nyong!?! Where exactly did you come from with all this fabulous style!! Making her first of two appearances on my Low down list Lupita made a statement early on this month at the Golden Globes with a mix of fun, classic yet an exciting dress; the perfect red carpet season jump off. While there were many people playing the safe cards; Lupita took a risk that played off very very well.
Now before you get all hot and bothered- I know many of you may not agree with me but Kaley Cuoco's blush floral Rani Zakhem gown was absolutely stunning. The color palette sticks true to trend, her hair and make up were on point and overall the look just really worked for me. The fit needed a little help (Jeez, no one could tell the girl to lift her gown?) but in the larger scheme of things- It was just a beautiful fashion statement.
Seriously, only Olivia Pope can pull off a crop top Prada gown while 6 months pregnant and look beyond fabulous. The key thing about Kerry Washington that I love is how well styled for events she is. From hair, make up to accessories- she consistently throws down the fashion gauntlet with winning looks- this evening, this look is a prime example. Bravo!
Now, I love Camila Alves as much as the next person but I have to say- I was not expecting to add her to my list but this mustard/gold colored Donna Karen Atelier gown is absolutely stunning. The softness in her hair, make up, shoes made her the perfect companion to her hansom husband who has been nominated for pretty much every award this season. Soft yet stunning, a true win.
This dress, the color, the neckline detail- seriously, the combination on Lupita Nyong is just a stunning overall win. You could have put this dress on any other artist or actress but the overall feel and the way she carried this dress made it perfect for her. Her stylist really made a mark and I am excited to see what she brings to the Oscar's red carpet in a few weeks.

You know, with the New Year upon us many will go on a binge of resolutions- lose weight, stop smoking, work less- what does a single girl with a love for fashion and full time career decide as her resolution?? It's simple really...
Get back to reading Vogue on a monthly basis.
Yeah, it's simple really and watching "In Vogue: The Editor's Eye" on HBO over the holiday break didn't quiet down my enthusiasm to actually go through with this resolution. Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington alone are worth any documentary but the fact that you get Babs Simpson participating, recapping and giving commentary on some of the most beautiful and inspiring fashion spreads the magazine has done through out the years- was gold.
If you haven't yet and are wondering what the fuss is about, you must take the time to watch the below clip- of the famous Alice in Wonderland fashion spread using some of the industries favorite designers.

January 1, 2014
Well with what feels like an eternity passing, I think it is about time to get life in order and start doing many new things along with a couple of the things I once enjoyed. With that said - please bare with me as I find my groove again but I fully intend on getting back to blogging, adventuring and sharing it all with you. With new interests, hobbies, loves and an overall need for pure joy in life- the format of this blog may change- hoping you will stick with me as I find my footing. In the meantime, I leave you with the above picture which I took on January 1st 2014- such a clear beautiful day with nothing but open roads ahead- if that isn't a metaphor for what is to come, I don't know what is.
